Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions? We’ve compiled a list of the questions we get asked the most often.

What is the W.O.D?

What is the Wod? You may hear this term a lot around the gym. It simply stands for “WORKOUT OF the DAY.

What if I can't use the recommended weight or perform the programmed movements?

Use a weight that’s manageable for you or use a percentage of the weight prescribed, and substitute movements you can do. For recommended scaling of Weight and or movements always ask your coach.

Everything at Terranora fitness is scalable to athletes of all levels

What can i expect after my first Terranora Fitness workout?

You will feel great and part of a community of likeminded individuals with one common goal, to be better than yesterday. You’ll have a better understanding of how classes are run and the method behind what we do. It is likely you will have learned new things, be a little bit “sore” and excited to come back for more.

Should I warm up and stretch before class?

We always have a warm up session before the Workout of the Day. If you find yourself with a little extra time before or after class, feel free to start warming up on your own, practice skills, or just socialize. All we ask is that you come in ready to do some work

Im new to working out, is there anything i shouldn't do?

We recommend all beginners to book a 1 on 1 session with one of our fitness experts or attend one of our skill/technique classes.

All classes however are scalable to all levels and abilities and our coaches are 100% all about technique before anything else

How quick will i see results and how many classes a week should i attend?

We recommend all members attend three classes per week as a minimum, this ensures that your getting to a wide variety of classes to greater your chance of results.

How quick you get results depends on how you apply your self to your training and just as importantly your nutrition.

Will i get massive if i lift weights?

This is a common concern, especially for women, when really it shouldn’t be. Generally speaking, women are not hormonally predisposed to building large amounts of muscle. Adding lean mass requires dedication to a high-calorie diet and a focus on lifting heavy weights, often. While weightlifting is a key component in our programming, it is just part of a wider fitness model.

What about Nutrition?

Without proper nutrition your body will not be able to withstand the workouts or activities of daily living. Regardless of your fitness goals (increased strength, weight-loss, special race/event, etc.), nutrition is the driving force behind these ambitions. Establishing proper eating patterns will not only fuel your body for the workouts, but aid in energizing it throughout your day. Failing to get your nutritional intake in check will result in slowed progress with our program. The basic concept behind eating the right things in the right portions is simple: Eat meat, vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruits, minimal amounts of starch and sugar.
